I spent a week at the inaugural CreativeAsia conference. It was definitely an eye opening experience, especially on the print judging. There are so many creative photographers out there coming up with fantastic works. The judges gave very constructive and sometimes harsh feedback which is good so that everyone can learn and improve. Being a wedding and portrait photographer, I believe in continuous investment in education and exposure to improve my craft. The speakers at the conferences cover such a wide breath of topics, it boggles my mind just recalling all the sharing I’ve absorbed over the week.

The best part of the conference was the two day workshop that I signed up with Manny Librodo. It was indeed a unique experience to have hands-on practice on how to create colourful and glamorous portraits. This is definitely something that I will be working to create for each and every one of my brides! Danielle & Loong Wei are such a lovely couple. They are so funny and we had a blast doing their portraits. The day started out with a simple tea ceremony at Eastin Hotel Penang with family and relatives; followed by a small and close luncheon with relatives and friends. We spent the rest of the afternoon doing portraits around the hotel and at Peranakan Mansion. Peranakan Mansion is one of my favourite places for portraits due to the architecture and richness of the place. We finished up in the evening at Tanjung Marina catching the city lights.

When Tze Thai told me that he was getting married I was pleasantly shocked and happy for him! He was one of those confident guys who I thought would hold up to the last minute before tying the knot; but when I got to know SheauWen I can understand the reason Sheau Wen is one of the sweetest and most patient person I know and I guess that’s why Tze Thai got swept off his feet. I was even more delighted when he asked me to photography their big day. Both bridge and groom had great ‘heng tai’ and ‘chee muis’ which made the day more memorable. After the morning ceremony, they had their luncheon at the peaceful Equatorial Penang where we did their portraits as well.

Kar Jin & Selena traveled back to Penang to have their ROM with family and friends. They are such a lovely couple. Kar Jin has that cool as a cucumber look while Selena is such a fun person laughing almost the whole duration of the shoot! After the ROM we were at the fantastic Peranakan Mansion. The mansion is culturally rich and is a wonderful place for a pre-wedding session.
